Description
Mark started his early medical career in General Practice, but made the decision to switch to anaesthesia after two years. He completed his specialist anaesthesia training in 1998, and then worked in Scotland and rural Queensland before settling back in Adelaide, joining the Wakefield Anaesthetic Group in 1999. He has also been a Visiting Medical Officer at the Flinders Medical Centre from 2000 to 2021.
Mark has a long history of service to the Australian Society of Anaesthetists (asa.org.au), having served on the SA and NT ASA Committee since 2000 (Chair 2006-08), the federal ASA Economics Advisory Committee since 2003 (Chair 2010-2021) and the ASA Board of Directors since its formation in 2016. He was ASA President from 2023-2025, and continues to serve on the Board as Immediate Past President. He is most willing to receive questions from the general public on issues related to Medicare, private health insurance, and the financial costs of treatment in the private hospital system.
Since 2016 Mark has been the Chairperson of the Wakefield Anaesthetic Group.
