Janet developed her interest in anaesthesia after working as a senior house officer in anaesthetics in North Wales in 1996 as part of her rural GP training. She completed her anaesthetic training in the South Australian Rotational Scheme between 1998 and 2002.  She spent her Fellowship year in the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2003.  She commenced private practice with Wakefield Anaesthetic Group in 2005.
